A Global Consciousness “Nudge” (Positively, no kidding!)

Okay, I won’t bury the lead.  I’ll concisely give you the what, the how, and then more on the why at the end (which is bound to be lengthy).  So you can get on with your busy day with the exact level of  “diving into the depths” that you wish.

A global “Financial Superentity” may have been discovered!  Its economic actions need not be random.  Evidence exists that a small number of meditators, healers and persons with true wisdom (who may not be financial experts, but these types are not ruled out) can influence the “Financial Superentity!”  You can be one of those influential people.  To influence the “Financial Superentity” you must follow the “recipe.” (In other words, don’t be surprised: if you fry the ingredients for an angel food cake, it won’t taste or look any thing like an angel food cake.)

This is the recipe.

Here’s your ingredients:

1. Add: the perspective of the Global Consciousness Project. We humans are increasingly aware of a global perspective and are both influenced by and are influencing the entire world.  Yes, random number generators all over the planet are scientific evidence that something “spooky, ” as Einstein would say, is going on.  Whatever we, as a mass of billions of individuals, are thinking and feeling is feeding back to and nudging the world around us. [more on this as I promised, in the why section]

2. Add these images.  On the left the Apollo 17 photo that to this day gives us a perspective of the planet and ourselves as one entity in space.  On the right is a graphic “Our Financial World Dominated by a Few,” and the subtitle of the Science News article is “‘Superentity’ Controls More than One-third of Global Wealth.” Now, hold that judgement! Stay objective! Just move on to ingredient number 3. [hang in there, we’re getting to the big pay off]

3. Add YOU:  a responsible and responsive healer. Yes you are.  You are healing yourself through your immune system right now as you read this.  Plus, if you are not falling for the trap of worrying about money, being envious of those 147 entities (the red dots) that control 40% of all financial transactions that the computer has graphed in 2007, then your positive emotional state is contributing even more to your healing immune system. Still having some trouble making an emotional shift to the positive?  That’s okay many of us are experiencing some difficulty in that regard.  Here look at these flowers a few moments, get into the feeling of fall colors; fall memories of beauty; children playing in leaf piles; good. Now we can move on the the HOW!

Here’s your process, stirring and baking to keep up the metaphor

Now with that good feeling your thoughts and memories have conjured up, look back at the graphic from Science News.  Speak to yourself and the 147 (maybe it’s 146 without Leahman Brothers) reassuringly.  “It’s going to be alright.  There is love here for you, nurturance, support, we are all going to get through this time and things will be much better.”  Understand that these images are suggesting strongly that we are all one entity.  We share these feelings and what you want is to feel better (less worry, less stress), feel more nurturance, heal yourself and that entity in the same breath (do remember to breathe during this, a little more oxygen helps with the healing process).

So, to summarize, look at the flowers; feel better.  Look at the images of Earth and the superentity from Science News, think nurturing thoughts and feel loving feelings.  Then rinse and repeat.  You know, go back to the flowers, re-charge and give the superentity another shot of healing energy.  Some words of advice: spend a few more seconds on the flowers, you want to be sure you’ve got some positive momentum and move off the global images as soon as you mind starts to drift (or worry creeps in).  And, use the scroll bar to hide top images while you absorb the positive focusing on the flowers.

Ahh, now I get to talk more about the “Why”

It’s hard for me, holding back all these details and thoughts that speed through my mind.  And it is quite relieving to let go and ramble until I get them all out there.  Thanks to those of you who are hanging around to find out more.  I will still put in the effort to be somewhat concise and organized with these details.

The Global Consciousness Project (http://noosphere.princeton.edu/)

The GCP examines subtle correlations  that reflect the presence and activity of consciousness in the world.  The GCP monitors random number generators (located in 70 host sites) all over the world and has noticed that when a great event synchronizes the feelings of millions of people, the network of RNG’s becomes subtly structured.  The probability of this structural appearance is less that 1 in a billion.  Major events (such as the tragedy of 9/11/2001) might fall into the area of statistical relevance and support this idea of  “a thinking envelope.” Though I would prefer to express it as “A consciousness envelope.” This is  the quick definition that applies to the funny word (nooshpere) in the url for the Global Consciousness Project.  I like the more inclusive word consciousness because it covers the idea that I am very often conscious of my feelings and I have many thoughts about my feelings

Meditate for Social Change?

Of course a few of us meditating won’t get picked up as empirical data on the RNG network.  But, as the GCP’s answer to an FAQ  on effecting social change states, “A better option is our human sensitivity, the direct perceptions of heart and mind, which are the finest tools we have for this purpose.” So this is where I’ll write in reference to those feelings that I have many thoughts about. Why not meditate for social change?  I have first hand experience with the individual change.  I know for a fact that my sincere expression of compassion in a “social encounter” with lots of individuals who have stood right in front of me has had positive effects.  So, without going into too much detail now, I will believe that there is a good chance for some quantum characteristic to be possible that effects my range.  Now I can’t personally attend the Wall St. protest(s).  But, I can contribute my consciousness to that which is already amassing and nudge the  “‘Superentity’ Controls More than One-third of Global Wealth.”  And I prefer to nudge in a positive direction. I’ll look further into the this by studying the  “Global Coherence Initiative” (http://bit.ly/BTuTb) to see what more can be learned about this direction.

Why regard the image from a computer as a ‘Superentity?’

Just like the image of the Earth from the Apollo 17 it inspires a perspective.  Sure the perspective refers to a subject which is now the source of much anxiety, fear and/or loathing.  But consider the perspective of the Science News article’s researcher.  She recognizes that a relatively small set of relationships can have a very significant effect.  Here I’ll quote her (Brandy Aven of Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburg), “‘Imagine a disease spreading.  If you have a high school where everyones sleeping together and one person gets syphilis, then everyone gets syphilis.’  but on the flip side, she notes, interconnectedness can lead to better self-policing and positive behaviors, such as fair labor practices.”  A system subject to feedback, possibly self -correcting at least if not an organic entity.

I for one would like the ‘Superentity’ to be aware of and acting for its own enlightened self interest.  Any system needs to be aware of actions that maintain its health.  Its homeostasis might be considered a bit out of wack given all the feedback we are now getting about our financial system.  Seeing news about the teach-ins currently going on at the “Wall St.” location(s) and the relatively civil and peaceful behavior, I’d say that the system is in the beginning stages of correcting itself and positively encouraging it just seems right to me.

Why “heal” the ‘Superentity?’

First I would consider that the ‘Superentity’ is made up of human beings.  And they respond as human being would to threats and nurturance.  Push the “SE” with threats and it would be stressed, consider fight or flight.  Do the opposite (however we may operationally define nurturance) and you would see self awareness or conscience emerge as the human focus.  Second I would base my answer to that on the understanding that the ‘Superentity’ is an organic system that would respond to nurturance by allowing more financial wealth to flow.  Just like an organic system might restrict flow when in shock or experiencing fear, preparing for fight or flight.  I can’t promise that the protesters are actually contributing positive healing feelings or thoughts toward the financial ‘Superentity,’ but since I can only control my own emotional and psychological state, I’d rather acquire the benefits of shifting my own consciousness toward nurturance for my own immediate benefit and allow for how there might be a more general effect.  I’d consider it a speculative bonus and if I allow my belief system to accept it as a possibility then there might just be a better chance of it happening.

But, there’s more. (part of me will miss you Steve Jobs, but the other part feels you’re still there)

What if research is adding more and more proof that this kind of influence (now we begin to use the word entanglement) can be communicated through a system.  I recall Bruce Lipton’s “Spontenous Evolution” (p. 281) suggesting that “electrical activity of the two communicating hearts and brains become entangled and begin to entrain with one another.  This research offers even more profound implications for activating a coherent world-wide healing field because it reveals that the healing coherence of love is contagious and can rapidly spread throughout a population.”

You’ve gotten to the end of this? Really, thanks for your time and attention.  I’ll do my best to prove worthy of it next time I share with you a “Letter from my soul.”

Magnetizing Happiness

A friend posed a question today. A question I’ve asked myself. I believe we’ve all asked this question or eventually we will. “How do you go about being happy?”

But is this question really based on a true premise? Maybe not. Maybe the right question to ask is “How do you go about being happier?” That questions assumes a process and a continuum which you can move up and down on and seems more practical. The former question assumes an end point if not an ultimate state which easily seems to be defeated by anyone or anything I could bump into while living in my practical everyday, material world.

Introspection: Where am I now? If I could make a happiness scale for myself what would it entail and where am I on that scale right now. I was happier when I loved my job. I was less happy when I heard news of how it would change. I was listening to my son once when he told me how happy he was when he was 12. I completely understood. I had a similar memory. As he described that memory of age 12, I took myself back to my own innocent moment of bliss. I felt it and I noticed that for a few seconds I could travel in my imagination to that time and hold that feeling.

  • I know I’ve felt happier.
  • I know I could feel happier than I am right now.
  • I accept that an ultimate destination of happiness is not immediately within my grasp.
  • I can exercise some control and move in feelings from less to slightly more happiness.
  • This makes me feel different, more powerful.
  • I know that anything might come along and tip my little boat upon the sea.
  • BUT, I’ve been able to right that boat before, I can do it again.

Most people can find “training wheels” for feeling happier by interacting with their pets, or loved ones, I’ve heard. Spend 17 seconds with kittens puppies or babies and you have an excellent demonstration of how to shift up the emotional scale to a place where you feel a little better. Then you’ll notice that the holding of that emotional state for that long changes your ability to feel better.

It feels like a muscle growing stronger, or a magnet being strengthened by the stroking of another magnet. Try this visual image: an iron core wrapped in spirals of wire carrying electric current, charging your attractive power to bring other thoughts slightly more positive, increasingly more positive.

Something breaks the current and it drains your power? Yes, life happens but repeat the process, have faith in your ability to exercise and learn this shifting skill. The core retains some power each time and grows in strength.

Happier is a journey. Happiness is a destination. While traveling by car at night I can only see so far ahead in the beam of the headlights, but by focusing on the road immediately ahead I am able to get somewhere. I’ll never know my final destination until I arrive where ever that will be.

A Deep Commitment to Introspection

Ah, to see myself as others see me.  You might consider it a blessing or a curse.  But being incurably optimistic I’m looking on the bright side for the nugget of self understanding that would allow me to shrink my own blind spot and grow in any beneficial way possible.

In specific terms, yesterday a friend suggested I seemed suspicious of something and then suggested that I should think about it for a while.  So think I did and not 24 hours later I realized that I was holding someone who was close to me in the expectation that (s)he would persist in avoiding solving a problem for her/himself and continue to seek outside help (unsuccessfully).

Since this realization came to me while reading a novel that contained some very practical suggestions for releasing expectations of others, the “eureka” moment was reinforced with two gongs going off at once.  Then the third gong sounded when I reflected over the last several days that I had been hearing about and considering in my mind another releasing process that seemed even more powerful than the one in the novel I was reading about.

And that is where you get your tip for the day!

I must thank and cite Marci Schimoff and her new book “Love for No Reason.”

The process is called:

“Ho’oponopono”

and goes like this:

“Sit quietly and mentally repeat over and over to yourself:

I’m sorry

Please forgive me

Thank you

I love you

You can have yourself in mind or another person or situation as you do this process. When you use this as a daily practice, you will notice that areas where you previously felt defensive, sad, hurt, judgmental or angry (any kind of upset) will begin to soften and you will feel more compassionate and loving.”

Now the feeling that was described to me by my friend was suspicion, but I would consider that it fit the above situation as being subtly judgmental.  I am wise enough to know that by taking responsibility for the expectations I have of others I can benefit myself and others by releasing them.  So, I am practicing Ho’oponopono and looking forward to the benefits it brings.

P.S. If you are interested in more practical skills and knowledge than just the Ho’ oponopono, check this out:

Whoa, been gone too long, but now I’m back

I had a great experience today!  Beginning with some really good meditation time this morning and then getting together with some friends later in the day for more of the same.  In practical terms I was able to actually feel more, intuit energy consciously on a level I have never achieved before.  I know how much more there is to learn but for the first time it felt so tangible.  I know that I’ll have a more of specific understanding about what to write about.  I can’t get it all down in writing here in this blog entry, but believe me there’s more coming.  Thanks Bartholomu!

Taking a Bolder Step

I was listening to Gregg Braden again, The Spontaneous Healing of Belief, and connecting his two Einstein references.  To paraphrase:

  1. Do you believe the Universe is a positive (helpful) or negative (hurtful) place?
  2. Subjective consciousness, that which is observed is changed by the act of conscious observation. (you know the 1909 experiment that created “quantum physics,” is light a particle or a wave, the observer seems to decide)

On point one, the question goes to the heart of what my trend of thought tends to be.  I experience my world, inner aspects as well as outer aspects and I think further based on the core belief of positive or negative.  If I choose positive then that which I observe is likely to become positive given the truth of the second item.  If I choose negative then that which I think further becomes more negative.

I do notice that I can maintain (for my inner world) a concrete physical state of calmness, and relaxation in choosing the positive chain reaction.  And just the same I’ve noticed the physical state of anxiety or stress can be encouraged through the the choice of the negative chain reaction.

Recently, I’ve noticed through the experiment with this choice of thoughts and subsequent experiences that more and more outside aspects of my world are returning to me in kind.  One could call it the Cosmic “Tit for Tat,” or keep both vowels the same, for symmetry sake (Tat for Tat).

Here’s your tip for the day:

Be Bold and take the positive path in subjective consciousness, and soon you’ll notice an increase of mighty forces that come to your aid.

Intuition & Finding a Light (bulb)

This is more about how we humans learn and how we “learn how to learn” in comparison to what computers do to “learn how to learn” than it is about changing a light bulb, but bear with me.

A bulb burned out in our bedroom and I didn’t have any spares in the basement storage closet.  So as I was about to start looking around the house for one that could be borrowed from a less used location and put in the bedroom fixture I had the distinct impression that there would be a bulb in an old lamp in the back storage room.  I followed my intuition and there was an old floor lamp we hadn’t used in 3 and a half years. I reached in under the shade and sure enough there was an incandescent bulb.

I tested it in another wall lamp where I often read, it worked fine.  But in my greater “wisdom,” (sarcastic tone) I decided to put the florescent curly shaped bulb from the wall lamp into the ceiling fixture of the bedroom.  Ha! It didn’t fit.  The fixture was enclosed by a small dome that was not large enough for a curly florescent bulb but would only allow the incandescent bulb that I had found immediately after checking  the empty supply closet’s shelf.

This had happened while I had taken a break from puzzling over how to write about the concept of heuristic learning.  I decided to walk about the house, check the dryer because it had buzzed at me, when I discovered the burnt out bulb in the bedroom and begin my intuitive adventure.

And previously, Webster’s Dictionary was helping me write by telling me:

heuristic |hyoōˈristik|adjective enabling a person to discover or learn something for themselves : a “hands-on” or interactive heuristic approach to learning.• Computing proceeding to a solution by trial and error or by rules that are only loosely defined.

I conclude that there is an intuitive link we humans have that can lead us to solving a problem quickly and efficiently but we still have the free will to second guess ourselves, waste time, pursue the trial and error method.  However since we do not have the lightning speed of a computer running through the trial and error method, it would be wise to accept that our rules for solving the problem can be “loosely defined” by what I will now call intuition.

Here’s your tip for the day:

Step one, while believing in intuition, intend to have an intuitive break by changing your action from puzzling over something and do something else instead.

Step two, enjoy doing that something else because it is allowing your intuition to work in the background without interference from your foreground conscious thought process.

Well, I’ve taken away a little more wisdom from this adventure in learning how to learn.  Though I may revert to walking around in the dark guided only by my less wise personality’s free will, I intend in the future to go with the light first found.

By the way our classical Greek friends gave us the word heuristic from a root word that means “find.”

Beliefs & Meditation

I started meditating with with certain beliefs in mind.

  1. I could improve myself
  2. I could make a clearer connection with my intuition and make better decisions (the moment to moment ordinary decisions or bigger once in a while decisions)
  3. I could relax more and be anxious less

About 4 or 5 years ago I listened to the audiobook “The Power of full Engagement: Managing Energy, Not Time Is the Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal” by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz.  I took away from that book an important fact. Any little sequence of  actions, let’s call it a simple ceremony, that you use to create focus and you use to intend some successful action becomes a strong suggestion that focuses more of your mind and body to better perform and renew yourself for future performance improvement.

These two authors were sports psychologists and had a very impressive record of helping people with performance in that arena and then they branched out into consulting with business people and performance in business.

So, I took what I learned and believed from this audiobook resource and decided that my meditation should include some ceremony that would help me.  Hmmm, what simple ingredients should I include?

  1. Think with each breath “I become more relaxed and more healthy.”
  2. When you’ve begun to feel more calm and relaxed, think with each breath I welcome thoughts that help me and help others in a positive way.”
  3. Observe the thoughts that come to mind,
  4. Then repeat these three simple steps

And that’s your top for the day!

My Optimism Could Be A Chronic Condition

I would like it to be so.  I have an easier time thinking positive thoughts about and for others than myself.  But there seems to be a tendency within me to float toward the positive even if it comes after an inward rant at myself.  Ah, yes, the inward rant, an experience I have when mistakes or self imposed pressure gets the best of me.

So, there you have two core beliefs I have reflected upon.

  1. I tend to think positive even if it takes a long exhaustive trip down “Downer Lane.”
  2. “Downer Lane” is a choice I make when I think that my responsibility for correcting mistakes begins with guilt and self punishment or
  3. To accomplish many things under pressure I must start with the idea of having “no fun at all,” but having only hard work and determination to get through.

Whoops, can’t count can I, that was three beliefs.  I’ll stop with the enumeration while I’m behind and make the point that my intuition just whispered to me.

Psst…It’s all about the beliefs.

You’ve got positive ones and not so positive ones.  At least your actions or thoughts are less positive when you labor under certain beliefs than others.  I’m about to reference Lipton’s “Spontaneous Evolution” and Braden’s “Spontaneous Healing of Belief” again.  Perhaps at one time certain beliefs helped me but now I’d like some relief from oppressive beliefs.  I’d like to think optimistically that I could change some of these beliefs, rewrite the program, as “L” and “B” mention to be more efficient and productive.  I’ll keep “Belief No. 1” just as it is and modify numbers 2 and 3

  1. Be optimistic at any opportunity, it is less painful to suffer the slings and arrows of pessimists than to stew in your own juices
  2. Forgive yourself and move on, it’s the straighter line between mistakes and positive correction
  3. Have some fun, it can be part of any experience you have the skill to attach the memory of that feeling to. At least optimistically believe you can improve your feeling state at any time in any situation.

Tip of the day = believe that you can modify and change your beliefs to better serve you. Actually that was yesterday’s tip and it just got delivered late.  My mistake.

Science and Intuition? Not Mutually Exclusive

I began listening to my audiobook of Gregg Braden’s “The Spontaneous Healing of Belief” today.  Just 11 minutes into it he lists 5 facts that Science has established in the late 1990’s and early 21st century:

  1. The Universe, our world and our bodies are made of a shared field of energy that was scientifically recognized in the 20th century and is now identified by names that include: the field, the quantum hologram, the mind of God, Nature’s mind, the matrix and the Divine Matrix.
  2. In the field of the Divine Matrix things that have been connected physically and then separated act as if they are still connected through a phenomenon know as quantum entanglement.
  3. Human DNA directly influences what happens in the Divine Matrix in a way that appears to defy the laws of time and space.
  4. Human feeling, emotions and belief directly changes the DNA that influences what happens in that matrix.
  5. When we change our beliefs about our bodies and our world the Divine Matrix translates that change into the reality of our lives.

It is number 3’s “defying of the laws of time and space” that I have not yet heard before.  I’ve gotten the first inklings of understanding how to change the reality of my life with my beliefs.  I can’t say that I’ve mastered the talent.  But more on that later.

I read Bruce Lipton’s book “Spontaneous Evolution” last winter and again last spring.  He cites Gregg Braden on pp. 201, and 277-279.  Bruce got me very excited about concrete scientific explanations of a mind/body connection that in turn increased my appetite for understanding and utilizing intuition.

So now I perform some basic tasks that allow me to feel the opposite of stress, a nurturance or well being that is pervasive enough to be felt throughout my body and mind often enough to gradually improve both body and mind.  But what’s this about defying laws of time and space?  I shall read (listen) more and keep you informed.

Meanwhile, my tip for the day:

Meditate, get quiet and just observe your thoughts for 10 of 15 minutes.  If “just sitting” is too hard to do, get active and try being the observer of your thoughts in some activity that helps focus you until you are free from the inner dialogue.  It may not be easy but when you establish a habit of doing something like this you begin to feel more relaxed, a great side benefit while you are waiting for something more interesting to “pop up” in that “pool of still water.”
